Special Events

At Christ Church, we celebrate the seasons of the Liturgical Year with special services and events.  We also have annual outreach and fundraising events.  Some of these are highlighted here.

At our annual "Christmas Pageant ala Point Hope" we all enter into the story of the birth of Jesus, with costumes and parts for everyone as we relive the coming of the Christ Child in song and story.

Some of our Traditions...

  • Epiphany Fire and the story of the 4th Wiseman

our Liturgical Year and Holy Days

The Church year begins 4 Sundays before Christmas with the first Sunday of Advent. December 25th begins the 12 days of the Season of Christmas.  Then on January 6th, the Feast of the Epiphany we celebrate the arrival of the Wisemen.  The season of Epiphany lasts until Ash Wednesday, which is the beginning of the Season of Lent.   Palm Sunday marks the beginning of the last week of Lent, which is Holy Week.  During Holy Week we gather for services on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and the Great Vigil of Easter on Holy Saturday.  Easter Sunday is the center of our Liturgical Year and it begins the Great 50 days of Easter.  The 50th day is the Day of Pentecost when we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit on the Disciples. The Season of Pentecost is the Final Season of the Church Year.
