Supply Priests and Knesset

In July 1996, the Rev. Spannagel resigned and moved to Washington State.  Without his expertise, the congregation became discouraged about ever having our own space.  We were hiring supply priests to lead Sunday services.  From the Summer of 1997 to 1999 we were fortunate to find the Rev. Bob Swope to serve on a regular basis.  The vestry was replaced by a congregational management style (Knesset) with two Sr. Wardens co-leading.  We found ourselves with property, some money in a building fund and a small congregation without a rector.  We decided to try to build the congregation by hiring a rector full time.
